Primrose Hill sits on the northern edge of Regent’s Park with Hampstead and Belsize Park to the North. Its name derives from the carpet of yellow primroses that used to grow on the side of the hill. Primrose Hill has always been a favourite among creatives and the famous, with poets Ted Hughes, Sylvia Plath and W B Yeats preceding more recent stars, such as Daniel Craig, Jamie Oliver and Sienna Miller. The latest Primrose Hill ‘set’ includes DJ Nick Grimshaw, Sam Taylor-Johnson and Stefano Gabbana.
Some of London’s most exquisite and sought-after mansion blocks and apartments are found in Primrose Hill and its borders as well as fine impressive period villas and terraced townhouses. Primrose Hill is served by two underground stations Chalk Farm and Camden Town, both Zone 2 on the Northern Line. Primrose Hill’s village atmosphere and good schools make a hit with families. The two local state primary schools – Primrose Hill and St Paul’s C of E. There is also Saint Christina’s in St Edmond’s Terrace, a private Catholic School.
