Marylebone Cricket Club is hosting an award-winning film over the weekend of July 15-16 about the legendary dramatic Indian World Cup victory against the West Indies at the ground in 1983. Filmed at Lords in the summer of 2019, the movie goers will sit on the hallowed turf to watch the Bollywood blockbuster “83” on two massive state-of-the-art LED screens on the stands at the Nursery End. Directed by legendary director Kabir Khan, “83” tells the inspiring story of India's historic win at the 1983 Cricket World Cup, led by talismanic captain Kapil Dev. The film features an all-star cast, including Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev and Deepika Padukone as his wife, Romi. It’s hoped that this, the first event to open up the historic cricket venue to make the ground more accessible to the public, will be an unforgettable experience for both film and sports fans.
