A new Australian-inspired café, Johnny Green, has opened in St John’s Wood in Allitsen Road offering coffee, brunch and dinner. Part of the Daisy Green Collection of eateries bringing a relaxed and buzzing Aussie food and café culture to London, food is carefully sourced and cooked in-house from scratch. Johnny Green was named after the father of the co-founder of the group, Prue Freeman, whose menus are inspired by her childhood at home on the family sheep farm and hot summers on the beach. Speaking to the Ham& High Prue revealed that they’ll be serving brunch classics of Sweetcorn Fritters, Blueberry Pancakes and Banana Bread Sandwich as well as a focus on vegetarian and vegan dishes, biodynamic wines (including some great Kosher ones). St John’s Wood is the test kitchen for the Daisy Green Collection and where their Development Chef for the group will be located. So diners will be able to test and give feedback on new dishes. Throughout the lockdown, a team of volunteers from Daisy Green baked and donated over 30,000 lamingtons and cakes for the NHS frontline workers from St Mary’s hospital to St Thomas’s.
