When Hanover Residential’s Director Jason Goldstone found a purse in the back of a black cab in December last year, he went the extra mile to find its owner to make sure she got her cash and bank cards back safely. Quick thinking Jason used a business card found inside the purse to track down the owner Hil Scott. “There was no telephone number on the business card, only a website address,” he says. “I found the website but there was only an email address, so I sent Hil an email asking her to contact me as I’d found her purse.”
A surprised and very grateful Hill visited Jason’s office in St John’s Wood Terrace later to collect her lost property and then revealed she was trying to sell her Camden property. “I asked if we could help find her a buyer even though the property was outside our core area,” Jason says, “and, although she was already on the market with two Camden agents, she was happy for us to come on board too.” One of the original agents found a buyer in January this year only for it to fall through around eight weeks’ later. “I then received a call from Hil’s son asked me to sell the home again, so we relaunched the property and within a week found a buyer for the £940,000 home which exchanged on 28 April. I believe honesty is the best policy and was delighted to make sure Hil got her purse back, the fact that we won some business as well was just the icing on the cake,” adds Jason.
