The England cricket team’s coach was held up by Just Stop Oil protesters on day one of the one-off Test between England and Ireland, but they appeared not to notice who was travelling in the coach inching along behind them. Wicketkeeper and batter Jonny Bairstow shared a photo on Instagram showing demonstrators and police officers in front of their team coach in the middle of the road. Bairstow said: “If we’re a bit late it’s not our fault.” The protest group posted a video of their demonstration on Twitter and wrote: “Apparently that’s the @englandcricket team bus. They might know a bit about a batting collapse, but the climate crisis is no one-day international – it’s our biggest test.”
