Renters Rights Bill Enters Final Stage Before Summer Recess

The Renters Rights Bill will reach its final stage in the House of Lords on July 21, just before Parliament breaks for the summer. The Third Reading allows the Lords to make final revisions before the Bill returns to the Commons.
This stage offers a chance to clarify the language and ensure the Bill is practical and consistent. Amendments can still be made in the Lords, and with some already introduced that were not seen in the Commons, the Bill is expected to go through a period of revision known as ‘Ping Pong’, where both houses agree on the final version.
Thanks to strong cross-party backing and Labour’s large Commons majority, this process is expected to progress smoothly. Although it is possible for the Bill to become law before the summer break, it is more likely to be finalised once the Commons returns on September 1st, just in time for the Labour Party’s conference.
